Two eagle rays who have not been in male company for more than  two years have given birth to 12 healthy pups. Rays and sharks are able to store sperm in their reproductive tracts for long periods and only produce offspring when conditions are optimal. "As far as we know the two years that this sperm was stored is the longest duration of sperm storage for this species,' said Oceanworld Manly Life Science Manager, Rob Townsend.
