Sydney Opera House and You Tube's Symphony Orchestra

I would love to have seen this piece of artistry tonight having been there with Blair this afternoon. However I am passing the Opera House en route to airport at the time of the performance.    Still no doubt I will catch up with the results on You Tube once home........... but not quite the same! Have a look here, I find it really impressive!
YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011 will be live-streamed at: www.youtube.com/symphony

YouTube‘s Symphony Orchestra will use lighting to allow the Sydney Opera House to become a living, breathing artistic representation of the music.”

Hyundai Motor Company is the presenting partner of the YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011, the world's first collaborative, online, international orchestra. 101 young  musicians from over 30 countries will be flown to Sydney for a week of concerts culminating in a Grand Finale performance at Sydney Opera House, which will be streamed live globally via YouTube.

The YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011 will showcase the extraordinary talents of this truly global ensemble. Under the inspiring leadership of internationally acclaimed conductor and Grammy award-winner Michael Tilson Thomas, the orchestra will perform over a week of festivities, culminating in a Grand Finale performance on 20th March, 2011.

This spectacular Grand Finale event will be streamed live via YouTube to a world audience and promises to be a multimedia extravaganza of soaring music accompanied by extraordinary projections within the interior of Sydney Opera House's Concert Hall as well as outside on its iconic Sails.

Circular Quay will come alive to the sounds of symphony when Hyundai presents an outdoor LIVE SITE designed to give the general public a prime location from which to enjoy the spectacular event. Located at First Fleet Park (adjacent to the Museum of Contemporary Art), the precinct provides the perfect vantage point for the magnificent Opera House projections. The entire performance will be streamed live from the Opera House Concert Hall to a giant onsite screen located at the Hyundai LIVE SITE, while live audio will be broadcast across the precinct.
The Lighting will Create Optical Illusions

“If we achieve what we are trying to do, we will be creating musically expressive architecture,” explained Travis Threlkel, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Obscura Digital. “We will enable audiences to experience the Sydney Opera House in a new light by using optical illusions that make it appear to be moving and accentuating itself based on what is taking place with the live performance inside the concert hall, essentially allowing the building to become a living, breathing artistic representation of the music.”

Obscura Digital will be supporting YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011 by designing and deploying sophisticated multiple vantage point projections to create a transparent architectural experience for the live event. Obscura Digital’s team of creatives, technologists, and strategists conceptualized and designed an interactive visual performance component to the music so audiences can be exposed to a show of light and sound from all angles.
